The new features that latest version of iOS provide are as follows:

1. Third-party Navigation in Car Play

With iOS 12 you can use Google maps in Car Play. With this feature, you can search for places, traffic information, alternative routes and more added feature include the ability to access lists to navigate some of your favourite spots, and traffic updates between work and home if you set up your commute. Great right!

2. Group FaceTime

With this new feature, “Group FaceTime” you can chat with around 32 people at once. You can also easily set up a group FaceTime call through the iMessage group chat window and add the effects like stickers and Memoji on the FaceTime call. This feature works on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

3. Siri Shortcuts & Suggestions

With Siri shortcuts. Siri is capable of doing much more than just the quick questions and answers. Siri can learn your habits from your daily routine and provide suggestions accordingly. You can also create your own shortcuts to invoke specific actions from an app.

Whenever you use the Spotlight Search Tool, you will see suggestions show up underneath. The suggestions vary depending on what you have been doing on your device. The more you use the device, the more suggestions Siri would be able to provide you on a daily basis.

4. Animoji & Memoji

The latest update of iOS brings along more interesting Animoji with a new feature that allows you to add a tongue or a wink to any Animoji. Interesting, right?

Apple has also introduced Memoji through which you will be able to create an augmented reality character that resembles you with an option to choose different hairstyles, eye colours, and more distinct features. Amazing feature by Apple!

5. Redesigned Maps

Apple is making major changes to its maps app by adding more detailed maps with greenery and other public landmarks. The feature is not so active right now, however, the app will soon be updated.

6. Secured Location Data

iOS 12 has a new feature that makes easier to locate iPhone users if they get into an emergency. The feature, by design,  provides secure location data to first responders when you call 911.

The service combines Apple’s exciting HELO technology that estimates location based on cell towers, GPS, and Wi-Fi connectivity with a technology created by RapidSOS to securely deliver the location data information to 911 in an emergency.

7. Improved QR Code Reader

iOS 12 has made improvements to the feature. The feature will now itself highlight the code for you to indicate that it has been detected. You can also now add it to your Control Centre  so that when you want to scan a QR code, you just need to swipe into the Control Centre and tap the tile.

8. Improvements to Portrait Mode

The portrait mode in camera setting is improved since the app generates a mask when it detects a person in order to separate the person from the scene when processing the image. This is an awesome feature.

You can also import RAW-format photos from your laptops/computers/cameras with iOS 12 to your iPhone and iPad and also you can edit the photos on iPad Pro.

9. Improved Face ID

Face Id got a major overhaul for iOS 12. Two different Face ID profiles can be created with this new feature in order to unlock your device. In the settings, you will find an option to add an alternate appearance as well.

10. Better Performance

The focus has mainly been on optimizing the system when it’s under load to speed up the time faster for sheet display. CPU performance will also be ramped up to its highest state for performance and ramped down as quickly in order to preserve battery life.

You will also notice smoother and faster transition animations in iOS 12 than iOS 11.

11. Measurement App

The new “Measurement App” will allow you to measure length and breadth of the flat rectangular surfaces. By tapping the object and dragging out a line, it will display a measurement light on the screen. You can just tap on an object like a photo and the app will automatically detect the measurements providing you with each dimension.

12. Improved Photos App

A new section has been added in the Photos app, “For You” which will have the best photos of your photo library and your memories. You will see suggestions to apply effects to your best photos to make them better. You can also search photos by typing places, events, and activities captured in images. There is also “Sharing Suggestions”, which will come in handy when you see all your friends taking tons of photos together.

13. Grouped Notifications

iOS 12 groups all notifications for you not just by the app but also by topic and thread. This is a great feature! You can tap in and look at particular notification and with a simple swipe, an entire group notification can be wiped off. Siri even suggests which notification should be turned off depending on the apps you don’t use often.

14. Managing Screen Time

To allow users more insight and control over how much time they spend on their device, the updated version provides users with a detailed weekly activity summary. You can see how much time you spent on your device, be it just picking up the call, or on any app. There is also an App Limits feature, you can actually set your own limits for how much time you want to spend on a specific app, you will then receive notification letting you know that time is almost up once you have reached the limit.

iOS12 has brought up a noticeable speed boost wherein apps load really quickly. With its focus on functionality, stability, and performance, iOS12 is not the most revolutionary upgrade ever, but with the upgrade devices have become better and that’s what the users need. Right?

How to update ?

To download the update you will have to make sure that all of your data is backed up and you have the latest version of iOS. You can follow the steps to download the update:

1. Go to Settings>General>Software Update Apple’s iOS 12 page
2. Select the option to install iOS 12.
3. If you don’t see an option to update, just check that your device is supported as all Apple devices do not support the latest iOS version.

The all new iPhones comes with dual sim functionality. One will be a regular nano-sim card slot and the other will be an e-sim or electronic sim. Existing micro-SIM cards will not be compatible with these new models of iPhones.

So what is an e-sim?

An e-Sim or embedded sim is essentially installed on a device itself. It means, you can’t physically take it out, and it is actually a part of the device. E-sim is considered to be more efficient in terms of functionality and less prone to any mechanical failures. E-sim comes pre-installed on mobile phone. Therefore no need to insert an additional sim to use the network while using an e-sim.

In India, Airtel and Reliance Jio are the network providers that support e-sim as of now. At the moment only the Apple Watch Series 3 cellular variant houses an e-sim and you basically have to configure your existing Airtel or Jio sim with the watch. So, whenever you are away from your iPhone, the Apple Watch Series 3 becomes your replacement phone.

If you already have an Airtel Post-paid or Reliance Jio connection, then you need not get a new number for just e-sim registration. You also have the option to convert the regular sim into e-sim. Like, if you have Airtel post-paid and a Vodafone sim, you can convert the Airtel number into e-sim to use it as the secondary number on the new iPhones while inserting physical sim of Vodafone in the device.

With the e-sim on the Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, the e-sim will be a separate number in addition to the physical sim card inside your device. The best part about e-sim is that you can remotely switch from one network to the other, and you don’t need to physically switch the SIMs.

Apple iPhone XS

Last year Apple launched iPhone X. The new iPhone XS series will continue the success of iPhone X. The screen size is same as iPhone X (5.8″ Super Retina HD display) for iPhone XS. It has an OLED display with the edge-to-edge design which also makes it more expensive. iPhone XS feature super retina resolution screens, which offer HDR, Dolby vision and carry the notch that debuted on last year’s flagship. The processor comprises of a four-core CPU, six-core GPU, a next-generation eight-core neural engine and it also promises to deliver a 15 per cent performance boost than the previous year’s iPhone.

It has a dual 12MP camera which boasts a larger sensor than that found on iPhone X. It also possess an improved “True tone flash”. There are many new feature with “Smart HDR” mode and the ability to adjust a photo’s depth of field after it’s been taken. The phone also has wider stereo sound and is made up of surgical-grade stainless steel. This phone is available in 64GB, 256GB, 512GB of storage options and Gold, Silver, Space Grey color options.

Apple iPhone XS Max

iPhone XS Max is almost similar to iPhone XS except its size & battery life. iPhone XS Max has a 6.5″ Super Retina HD display. This phone also have a dual 12MP camera on backside & a 7MP camera on front. Battery of this phone lasts up to 1.5 hours longer than iPhone X. iPhone XS Max is available in 64GB, 256 & 512GB storage options and Gold, Silver, space Gray color options.

Apple iPhone XR

iPhone XR is the third variant in the list. It comes with Liquid Retina HD display of 6.1 inches in size. It has a single camera of 12MP wide-angle on the back. On the design front it has aluminium sides, not stainless steel like the other two variants. This phone runs on iOS 12 powered by A12 chipset. This phone also has a dual-sim option. The iPhone XR is available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB configurations with white, black, blue, yellow color options. The iPhone XR will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options. You can choose this from variety of colors white, black, blue, coral, red and yellow.

Pre-booking has already started for these new amazing products. Service Providers like Airtel and Jio have started pre-booking on their websites & mobile apps. You can also pre-book them on e-Commerce sites like Flipkart.

Apple has strategically launched the new iPhones in order to set the pace for the phone m makers in the upcoming year. Now Facebook has come up with its own video community “Facebook for Creators” for video lovers.

You can upload your videos, share them with people. You can like videos & comment on them. As we are doing on YouTube as well. Facebook may be launching this to give competition to Google’s YouTube. Well its new community, Everyone is not not families with it. May be Facebook will also provide monetization option for video as YouTube does with GoogleAdsense. Currently,  only registration can be done on Creators.

Registration is Simple as Follow

1. Go to https://www.facebook.com/creators & Click on Join button (on Right upper side of website) or Simply go to https://www.facebook.com/creators/join
2. Now it will ask for Sign in with Facebook. You must have a Facebook account to get registered on Creators. Click on “Sign in with Facebook“
3. Now it will ask you an active email address and basic details about your videos and your upload frequency, Part-time or Full-time & existing account URLs where you post videos 
4. Click on “Let’s do this!” and & You are ready to go.

Facebook has also provided iOS app for Creators. You can download this from iOS App Store.

An Android App is not yet available on PlayStore. Facebook will soon provide for Android users as well.

My Opinion : The news feed is cleaner and smarter, but the Facebook chat heads are not very useful for iOS users because they only appears when you are inside the Facebook app, While on Android they can appear on your Home screen or any other app. The whole point of chat heads on Android is the ability to use them inside any app or anywhere on your phone. If you have to be inside Facebook app it is pointless.What do you think ?

Tapping the Add Contact button will bring up the same screen that you normally see when adding a new contact. The Dial Phone button, brings up a phone dialer as you see in the screen shot above, along with a popup window containing the digits for the number  to dial. This both shortcut makes it easier and faster to dial or save a contact.

Don’t forget to enable it from Settings –> Notifications –> Not in notification section –> Addial –> ON
